The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham
The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham has been working to meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities since 1962. They are dedicated to improving the quality of life for all individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families.
The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham members include parents, professionals, persons with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, and concerned citizens. Their staff and volunteers work to minimize the effects of intellectual disabilities.
The Op Shop, The Arc’s largest and best known program, fulfills the unmet need for a day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities whose age and functioning levels prevent them from qualifying for other services. Clients of the Op Shop have the opportunity to earn a paycheck by making high quality craft items, preparing bulk mailings, doing small assembly jobs, while sharpening life skills for possible future employment.
