Harrisonburg-Rockingham Office on Children & Youth

The Office on children and Youth , established in 1998, gathers data, works to coordinate services for efficient delivery, advocates for services, serves as a resource center, and oversees wide reaching direct service programs: Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Reading Road Show-Gus Bus, Shenandoah Valley Migrant Education, and Youth Council.

The Office on Children and Youth also oversees the administration of the Youth Data Survey every two years. The objectives of the Youth Data Survey are to: produce reliable information on risk behaviors; assess needs; ascertain gaps in service; assist in determining priority areas; allow agencies access to local data in order to write successful state, federal, and foundation grant applications to address the identified needs; and evaluate progress over time on the impact agency programs have on local youth.
