Virginia Quilt Museum
Opened in 1995, Virginia Quilt Museum was designated “the official quilt museum of the Commonwealth” by the Virginia General Assembly in 2000. They celebrate and nurture our quilting heritage by collecting and preserving quilts from Virginia for the benefit of the public.
Virginia Quilt Museum focuses on the role and significance of quilts in social and cultural history and emphasizes the aesthetic value of quilting as an art form while facilitating research in the fields of history and art by preserving the stories of not only the quilts, but also of the quilters who made them. They have a variety of volunteer opportunities for people to use their skills to assist the museum.
